A few things I would suggest for the coming year.
Make the league that yahoo is just a subsidiary to the Proboards page.
- Every drop, every pick up, every trade has to be done here. It will help keep track of what is going on and make sure their are records.
Either Review the Bidding process/Free agency process. - Make it that pick ups have to be bid on and that way everyone has a chance at the player. Make it just like the bidding process in the offseason. - Maybe look at if there is an easier way to help Javy with the actual bidding process, maybe that contracts have to be determined as a bid is put in, so he can track if someone is over the salary cap.
- Rules to prevent you from making bids if it puts you over the salary cap. Only if this is something Javy is concerned about.
- Player exemptions if a player gets injured like in the NBA. Or possibility of having an injury replacements that are close to free that you can declare and then once your player is healthy again are able to drop for free. Could say each player is worth $500,000 so you need to keep some salary cap space for them.
I think there are also a number of items that came up last year that should be discussed.
COVID
- I still think it will affect players this year. Maybe do free replacement for players listed as a COVID related injury/absence from the team but only so long as they are out of the line up. The replacement goes back to the free agency pool after that.
Well these are just a few of the things I thought of so let me know if any of them sound like good ideas to you Javy. If they do then the entire league could discuss them more at that time.

I have some things that I agree with and things that I don't care about that GreySkull mentioned. I am passionate about his first point: "Make the league that yahoo is just a subsidiary to the Proboards page. - Every drop, every pick up, every trade has to be done here. It will help keep track of what is going on and make sure their are records." I think this increases transparency and gives us a written record of everything. I think it will also make it easier on Javy. I don't know if there is a way we can remove the ability to pick up in Yahoo, but we could at least make it a rule that if every transaction must be written here as well by the party who processed it.

Matt (Rookies) Rookies I have two contract yahoo leagues that I am in. So to answer your questions about making it that you can't make pick ups or drops on yahoo. So you can't make yahoo do that but you can make it that every transaction has to happen on here before. If it doesn't then the players are dropped off your team by the commissioner. Might involve adding a co commissioner to help Javy track some of the transactions.

Hey Guys I want to pick up a player and have him playable for tomorrow. So we have to pick up in Yahoo. In particular during finals. I think we would be creating for work for everyone especially Javy as well if we don't use Yahoo. The history is also in Yahoo.

That’s the thing I’m bringing up. If you want to pick up a player for tomorrow for the finals but have no contract space who is going to know until you added them and got the benefit of that player for multiple days. There’s many issues like this.

Maybe have a max number of trades a week. Streaming in finals is pretty ridiculous imo.

I have been in leagues where there is a roster freeze at the start of the playoffs and the only transactions allowed are if a player gets injured and you get a replacement for them. Streaming is currently allowed so I have no problem with it but you are right I'm not a fan of it. Though you made 7 roster transactions in the last week of the season to finish 3rd.

But realistically there is not a huge point in discussing these items if Javy doesn't want to entertain any of them. I was bringing them up more for him to comment on. If he feels any of them are good ideas then we can debate the merits of each item. But if he doesn't like an idea we can just move on from it.

One other thing worth considering is I feel like 2nd round picks are majorly undervalued in this league because of the contract structure. I'd like to make a suggestion of the following for s new structure. 1st Season $500K, 2nd year option $500K, 3rd year option $1M. I find a lot of second round picks don't end up having contracts given to them so that you can then bid on the player as a FA and give them a 3 or 4 year deal at $500K per season. I feel like this might cut down on this.
I would also suggest that this rule doesn't take affect this draft but for the 2022 draft as many trades have been made for this season and although there is a few trades for the 2022 draft there are not nearly as many and it would be fairer.
Again totally up to Javy not saying this is a make or break thing for me just a suggestion.

Interesting items, GS. My thoughts: - I'd be fine with Proboards being more active during the season, but as a record only. For things like swapping out players on minimum deals (i.e., streaming), there's not a great deal of need to do that, except to centralize everything for salary cap tracking. Would be great to have things like buyouts/long-term pickups available to visit here.
- Tracking salary cap status through each and every bid would be an onerous task, especially in the height of free agency when there are 20+ FAs at once. This could and should remain the responsibility of the owner, knowing that winning a bid when you're over the cap means you have to correct the issue or lose the player and possibly receive a penalty.
- We already have the Disabled Player Exception, which offsets contract costs if a player is out for the season. I don't think short-term injuries need to be compensated.
- I'd be fine with added flexibility with regards to IL. However that is achieved can be discussed.
It may be too late to impact this off-season, but I'd be curious hearing everyone's thoughts on realigning the FA bid process so that it is largest average value per year, as opposed to greatest total value. In my mind 1 year at $20M should be much more preferable to 4 years at $21M.

I must have streamed like 50 players during finals. You spend all year with one team then you play finals with a very different team. Doesnt happen in real NBA.

Also the reason I bring up the injured player exemption is I don't actually see it in our rules but I may be missing it.

Also the reason I bring up the injured player exemption is I don't actually see it in our rules but I may be missing it. I would have sworn i've added it at least twice.. but sure enough its not there.. basic rule is as follows.. if player gets injured and NBA grant his team an injured player exemption then you are eligible for an exemption as well. exemption is the smaller of either 5M or 50% of player salary.

I think at some point we will need to adjust all rookie contracts and (possibly minimum as well) .. as the cap continues to rise the comparative value of these contracts will continue to fall.. as an example, when league started #1 pick was paid 5% of team cap.. its now 4%.

There’s many issues like this. not that this is a regular occurrence.. think it may have happened once or twice in the first season.. but I do keep track of teams once they run out of cap space for FA pickups so players can be dropped before they have a chance to play and collect stats that could effect a matchup.
