Hi,
A decision was made late the free agent bidding last year to allow team options. This was then allowed over multiple years.
For example a manager with a 1 year player can have a team option for year 2 and year 3 and year 4.
There are a couple of players who currently have these contracts.
I don't think we should allow multiple team options anymore.
Otherwise managers would put team options on all one year players with future team options on subsequent years to 4 years just in case.
I believe it's too much power/advantage.
Not sure if you are allowed multiple team options in the NBA? My thought is no.
Interested in everyone else's thoughts?
Cheers, Tom.

I think the current NBA allows one TO per season for any expiring contract. But I could be wrong.
This is of course excluding rookie scale contracts.

I think 1 team option per contract is fine. But 3 team options for year 2, year 3 and year 4 for a 4 year contract is bit much i think.

I'm happy with whatever is agreed upon by the majority. Has long as it's fair for everyone and we all know the processes. I'm good with.

I think in the NBA you are allowed 1 team option only in the final year of the contract.

I like the multiple year options but I don’t care moving forward.

If people like this, then you might see all contracts for 1 year with team options for the next 3 years on all players. This means managers have the rights for 4 years but not the accountability.

I can find it documented anywhere, but I thought we made it the you could not have more option years than than guaranteed years? anyone else remember this?
Anyway, not a fan of the 1 y + 3 y TO. Would be happy if we just limited to 1 TO year per contract.

Dedmon and Harkless we're both on 1 + 3 TO years with the last 3 years each on TO.

I have no problem to change the currenty system provided the contracts already signed with multiple TO are respected.

No issues with existing contracts already done. Just don't think it's good to have multiple TO on the same players, year 2, 3 and 4.

I'm obviously the problem here, and would prefer not to have my existing contracts on Dedmon and Harkless undone. And I'm not smart enough to know what the NBA's CBA allows in terms of options on contracts.
