To be honest I had never thought about them as a trading chip until Rookies contacted me. But when he did it seemed like a good way to get something out of a situation I had no hope of getting anything.
( I will be spending years paying off Anthony and Durant...one through ignorance and one through impatience)
So after agreeing with Rookies we then found out that that was not allowed. Of course as soon as someone say NO after I had my heart set on it I immediately looked for a work around. It was sleazy and unsportsmanlike but it was not illegal. I did not try to hide the fact. I publicly announced what we planned to do and even messaged Javy that this is what we planned to do. I did this because I wanted to be sure that I didn't get half way into this mess and then find I was stuck with Beal and no way to pay him. And also I wanted the league to see the lengths teams can go to to subvert a league ruling.
Everybody can see what Rookies and I did. That so long as two managers agree to do a workaround and one of them has sufficient cap space there is an easy loophole to the trading of RFA rights.
I propose that to save everyone time and Javy a lot of unnecessary work we change the rule to allow managers to trade RFA rights. Since everyone is limited to one RFA it's not like this should cause unholy hell to erupt.
Feedback appreciated

I am sucking back the morning coffee so I am on a roll here
I would like to propose a rule change about salary caps. Currently the rule is that when signing a player to multi year deals he must must be under the salary cap for every year of his contract.
I may be wrong but I have never heard of a professional team in trouble for being over the cap for future seasons.
I would like to propose that when signing a player to a multi year deal the team must be under the salary cap at the start of each season. That it is ok to be over the cap for future years. That you have until the start of that particular season to get under the cap.
There should be harsh penalties to prevent all out lunacy taking place. To stop teams from going overboard and putting themselves in an impossible position in future years.
First penalty would be removing the player from the team if the team is unable to get under the cap, stripping draft picks for the following year and a fine of 10 million dollars
Feedback appreciated.

Can be frustrating at times wading through the minutiae but the best part of any season in any league is the preseason and the preseason here is compelling.
I would love to see someone ( not me...I run too many leagues as it is) set up the equivalent sort of leagues for football, baseball and ice hockey. Would be great if all of us who play here played in a sort of grand slam of contract leagues.
