We have a bid of 510k for 2 years + 2 year option
Does the next bid have to be 1.1 M increment by 500k?.
Can we make it less complicated.
Cause someone is gonna bid 1 M and get told it's not a 500k increment.
And the bid finishes on a technicality.
On a phone lots of people may miss the 10k.

Honestly, not bidding a round number seems so ridiculous that I almost wonder if it's cheating.

Just a reminder that you don't need to use odd number like 1.85 over 3 equals 5.55M.
You can just put 5.5M over 3. Your three years don't have to be equal.
Cause someone is gonna get confused. Having to calculate total contracts using odd numbers is doing my head in lol.
So to beat this contract within the rules the next person has to put 6.05 M cause 6M is not 500k more.

Yeah we are still plagued with bidding issues (Rozier being the latest).. maybe it will be simpler if all bids are just contract total amount.

Examples
4 M over 4 (years) 4.5M over 4
4M over 2 + 2TO
This means 4M in the first 2 years as only guaranteed money is in the total. Then 2 year team options.
Then we can easily tell the total contract

I think the whole contract value followed by the amount of years and TO’s is best, but DGT’s way is also easily followed.

Javy, can you make a ruling on the Terry Rozier thing?

yeah, been thinking about that.. its pretty rough but I think in the past we have always gone with if your bid is invalid it doesn't count..
can anyone else remember a past auction that went down like this?

I feel the need to point out a few things:
1. All bids by all managers to this point have followed one of the two prescribed formats specified in the league rules. 2. A great many of the bids, in either format, use some sort of abbreviation or truncation. Perhaps all of us could do better to ensure clarity in bids. 3. Changing league rules regarding bidding, while in the middle of bidding, should not occur. That is business for the time before bidding occurs (or, equivalently, after free agency closes and the regular season is going).
Finally, I note that Bye Week's bid on Brandon Clarke does not appear to meet the minimum bid increment of $500k. Yes, two years versus three guaranteed, which is why I said "appear to meet".

Yes, two years versus three guaranteed, which is why I said "appear to meet". Years have alway trumped value.. same (or in this case slightly more) money over less years is an acceptable increase.. see biding war over mo bamba last year as prime example ssmt.boards.net/thread/682/mo-bamba

One year beats two, beats three, beats four for same overall value, that we know. Just wasn't clear whether the minimum increment holds even when duration shortens. To be sure, the contract on offer from Bye Week *should*, in the real world, be preferred, and I'm fine with that in this league as well. Just want to be clear on the interpretation and application of the rules.

Javy, you’re the commissioner. Can you please make a ruling on Rozier? My bid certainly lacked clarity, but was in enough time that if there were questions, they should have been asked before it was over.
At any rate you never really weighed in on Sexton last year and that back and forth dragged on. This one is similar, but if you can deal with it soon then it’s early enough in free agency that there should be no questions for the whole period.

Thanks for the clarity. I'll give up on adding scary terry.
