No doubt you can claim Batum, but Okafor must be signed as a free agent. Thats the reason that the $500,000 is deducted from the contract when the player is waived.

yes, maybe the yahoo logistical things say 2 days. But I've literally copied and pasted from the rule book. Nothing on that rule book states a two day period. The only thing I agree with is the priory order which is actually stated in the rules.

I'd think you'd agree with the part about Okafor too.

Sorry disagree with that Tunesquad, as Thundercats stated that is not what our rules say, that might be how Yahoo leagues generally works, but we have a set of different rules.

As far as the 500K goes they will be put back on the contract and it will read exactly as before he was put on waivers.

If he was a free agent he should be removed from my cap space, as long as I am paying his contract he is mine.

I believe the waiver period on yahoo is 2 days, so in theory you could "pull" someone back off of waivers during that time if no one else has claimed that player yet. But Okafor was put on waivers a little over 2 weeks ago, so I would think at this point he's fully a free agent and could only be added by him going through a free agent auction and signing a new contract. Also, as for Batum, i'd think he'd be on waivers for 2 days and then go to the person with the highest waiver priority that puts a claim in on him. Though I have no idea what the waiver priority looks like. And, I'd think we need the commish to weigh in on this. Commish? This is spot on.

Sorry that is not how contract leagues work - just read the rule book, if any manager here in this league wanted Okafor they have had ample time to claim him, and he would have come off my cap space. As long as I pay his salary his is mine. This was not a buy-out - a feature we do not have in this league. Had it been a buy out, I would have taken a hit against my cap space once and for all, and he was off my team and a free agent for all to freely bid on.

In this league once you waive a player you have lost the right to him. If a player is over the minimum 500k then you still owe the residue amount on him, but have no rights to him. You can't unwaive Also you can't unbid Waiver is draft order and fairest way is waiver for all players waived. Sorry guys that's my interpretation.

I am not sure I would necessarily go as far as that, however I do believe that this league might be the first experience with contract basketball for a number of managers here, and there is always a learning curve, I still remember my first encounter with contract basketball - the first couple of month just drove me up the wall.

Im Either going mad or I can't read English. What I'm trying to say is a players Contract for a waived player will continue to count against the team’s salary cap unless the player is claimed off waivers by another team. (This statement is made by our commissioner)!
If you can point me to the part that states a player clears waivers after a certain amount of time. I will gladly accept that I'm an imbicle from the planet Pluto.
I fully understand the stretched cap space. But no where in this rule points me to when a player is off waivers.
I'm only going off what is stated in a rule book.
