With the player waived we could start a new bid on a player right?
If you waive a player in the NBA and they make it through does that player becomes a free agent and is open to be signed by every other team in the league.
I'm new here so I'll go by whatever the commish says but I don't see how you are able to remove a player from waivers.

You are allowed to make a new contract after 48 hours from when the player is waived. What I'm trying to say is and what is stated by the commissioner is that a player Contracts will continue to count against the team’s salary cap unless. The player is claimed off waivers by another team. There is no rule which states that the player clears the waivers after a certain period of time. What I read.......Is that a player on waivers can only be claimed by another team if they are willing to pick up his contract. Unless it has expired. In Batums case he is a free agent next year. If this is not the case then the commisioner needs to be more clear on the rules he wrote.

Anyhow regardless of the outcome of our commissioners decision, I am tired, having spent way too much effort in trying to find replacement managers and convincing the missing manager to join Proboards, it has simple become too much of an effort to continue trying to make this league a success in spite of the fact I had very high hopes for the league. I cannot continue to refer to a rule book that would appear at least to some of us to fly against all logic, if not us, then some of you. I simple play in too many leagues to have to constantly refer to rule books for interpretations of what I think is straight forward. I have never now or in the past been in a contract league where this present controversy would ever have become an issue - I feel quite a few of us are not even on the same page when it comes to contract basketball. I will therefore ask our commissioner to please replace me at the first opportune moment. To those of you I brought into this league I apologize for skipping out on you. I do however wish you all a hopefully fun and competitive season. Hopefully God can save this league - I tried.

You've done all the hard work mate. Don't leave, we're nearly there. League takes much less effort during the season. Hang in there.

Please don't leave. I feel like we have the makings of something really good that is just going through a little bit of natural teething.

Haven’t had a chance to read through this whole thing yet but from what I’ve seen Halifax wants to un-waive okafor and waive batum?
No, this can’t be done.
Once you waive a player you lose all rights to the player.
Okafor was waived a few weeks ago, so he has now cleared waivers and is a free agent.
No one claimed JO of waivers so you (Halifax) are responsible for paying out his contract.

Where exactly in your rule book does it say that I cannot recall my waiver?

True, it doesn't, it also doesn't say that you can recall a waiver.
The waiver time is not specified as we are using whatever the Yahoo default is (2 days I think).
It would normally make more scene once the rosters are finalized/activated. JO would have been dropped of you roster onto the the wavier wire, where he would sit as a waiver for a few days allowing other players time to put in a a claim. if nobody puts in a claim we becomes a free agent. just like in any other fantasy league.
where this league is different, is if nobody claims JO you still need to pay out his contract.
I really do hope that you do reconsider leaving the league. I know it has been a challenging off-season but we are nearly there and I expect things will settle down soon.
Keep in mind that this is the first real off season the league has gone through so there was always going to be some issues.

There’s a lot of opinions on this issue. Like others, I have same questions, what kind of contract that the new owner will have to pay for a waived FA? Since there’s a statement that every FA (is this including waived players, or only for the undrafted one?) who picked up will get paid a default $500k, unless the owner wants to extend his contract. And there’s another statement in the rules saying that if the player had a contract, the new owner has to pay the waived FA his previous contract? If there’s a waiver time, we need to know how long we need to wait until that player could be picked up by other owners. Especially during offseason which yahoo couldn’t lock the player.
Regarding current waived player, is it Okafor or Batum? I want to put a claim for Batum if I may. But again, how can we determine which team gets the player when there are more than one manager put a claim on the waived player while we’re in the offseason.

Ah, the commish has just posted the response. Thank you for clearing this. So Okafor is still in the waiver?not Batum?

what kind of contract that the new owner will have to pay for a waived FA? - This will depend on when the player is signed... If it happens during the 'Free Agent' period the player is bid on like any other free agent. so you can offer any valid contract you see fit. If it happens during the year, there are fixed term contracts that apply - these are listed in the rules somewhere. If multiple teams claim a player off waivers, the team with the worst record get the player. Waiver period is two days, can be seen league settings here... basketball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/nba/3353/settings

Okafor has cleared waivers and is a free agent..
If Halifax is still with us, he can confirm if he would still like to waive Batum given that okafor can not be 'unwaived'
